Zuelma Iruegas Rodriguez passed away on Tuesday, July 14, 2020 at the age of 78. Zulema was born January 1, 1942 in Laredo Texas.
She is preceded in death by her husband Gerardo Rodriguez Sr.; parents, Gilberto Iruegas and Esperanza Trevino Iruegas; brothers, Ricardo Iruegas, Raymundo Iruegas, Ramon Iruegas, Servando Iruegas, Gabriel Iruegas; sister, Yolanda Iruegas Garza; grandchild, Gerardo Alberto Fuentes.
Zulema attended Christian Middle and graduated from Martin High School in 1961. During her working career, Zulema worked for IBW (UETA), Farias Elementary (LISD) and LISD Human Resources where she retired in 2011. She continued active in the workplace at WEBB County and the Diocese of Laredo. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother, and friend. She is now at rest alongside her husband Gerardo of 54 years.
Left to cherish her memory are her children, Lulu (Beto) Fuentes and Gerardo (Alma) Rodriguez Jr.; grandchildren, Mahogany Formen Fuentes, Karla Fuentes. Karina I Rodriguez, Gerardo Rodriguez III, Victoria Fuentes and Ricardo I Rodriguez; siblings, Gilberto (Pat) Iruegas, Jose Iruegas, Jesus Iruegas, Jorge (Mary) Iruegas, Juan Iruegas, Eliza (Fernando) Ireugas Mercado; brother-in-law, Jose Luis (Debbie) Rodriguez; sister-in-law, Consuelo (Gilberto) Rodriguez Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will be receiving guests Thursday, July 23, 2020, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will start at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 24, 2020, at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church. The Funeral Mass will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Gerardo Rodriguez Jr., Gerardo Rodriguez III, Ricardo I Rodriguez, Francisco Alberto Fuentes, Jorge Iruegas, Jesus Iruegas, Ernesto Garcia and Diego Mercado. Honorary Pallbearers are Gilberto Iruegas, Jose Iruegas, Juan Iruegas, and Jose Luis Rodriguez.
