We just recently heard of your loss and wanted to express our love and condolences to the entire family. I am Roberto (Bobby) Cortez, hijo de Gregorio y Olga Rendon Cortez. I and my brothers Rene and Daniel Cortez met with Zenon a few years back in Laredo (I leave in Houston and Daniel leaves in Chicago) and we got together with Rene in Laredo. My brother Daniel was gathering family data to attempt to put a family branch book together. He was working on our Moms Rendon side of the family branch when Zenons name came up. You see, Zenon was a boxing legend in our family conversations and we were always so proud to bring up his name. I just wanted to share this story with you all, for you see, while we might have loss him physically his legend will always live on to be shared with our kids and grand kids. God Bless you all.

MY deepest condolences for the Rendon family. Zenon and I became friends while attending Lamar Jr. in the middle 50s. He was a nice classmate and friend. He will be missed.

Zenon “El Maz” Rendon Written by Danny Rendon Cortez July 28, 2011 I heard about him when I was young. He was a boxer whose time had come. He carried “el mazo” in his fist. So many names on his knock out list. Five Golden Gloves titles is his claim to fame. Zenon “El Maz” Rendon is his name. He’s a legend in his hometown. He’d knock you out whether you were Black or Brown. 100 victories and only 15 defeats. Most of his opponents swept off their feet. I heard about him when I was young. He’d come at you when the bell rung. Inducted into the World Pugilist Hall of Fame. Zenon “El Maz” Rendon is his name. Inside the ring, he did reign. The world of boxing was his game. Rest in Peace, campeón.
