I am deeply saddened by Vale's passing. I moved to Laredo in 1974 (from Ohio) and we struck up a long-lasting friendship at J.W. Nixon High. We graduated together and stayed in touch over the years even after I moved back to Ohio. He called at least twice a year and we would catch up. He always sent me a text on my birthday and other holidays. When I visited Laredo five years ago he went to my mother's house and we reminisced and laughed about old times. I will forever remember his unique, lovable laugh and his caring and kind ways. About two years ago when we spoke on the phone we got on the subject of coffee. He told me that he really liked Nescafe con Canela. I told him that I had never heard of it. Imagine my surprise when a week later I received a package from Vale with the Nescafe con Canela. He sure knew how to make me laugh and smile. It was always a pleasure to hear from him ... my dear friend. I will miss him greatly. His family is in my many thoughts and prayers. Sending them all big hugs from Ohio. May God comfort all of you at this sad time. Be assured that Vale will never be forgotten!

My uncle Vale will be a greatly missed presence in my life. He was someone that I could always count on to be there for me and never failed to remind me that he had me in his thoughts. He never forgot a birthday or celebration, and was always there during the hard times as well. I love you Vale and hope that you have found peace.
