Our beloved father Trinidad H. Granado, 98, passed away peacefully at home in the presence of his family on May 9, 2020.
Born on June 10, 1921 to his parents; Don Marcos and Leandra Granado in Laredo, Texas.
Trine is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Maria Eustorgia Pena Granado; daughter, Sylvia De la Pena; grandson, Random Marcus De la Pena; granddaughter, Dinorah Elizabeth; siblings, Alfonso, Carmen, Octavio and Martina.
He is survived by his children Rodolfo (Elsa) Granado, Edna Granado, Martha (Juan) Vasquez, Angelica (Richard) Gonzalez, Veronica (+Ricardo) Martinez, Trinidad Jr. (Sandy) Granado, Marcos (Vicki) Granado; grandchildren, Martha Alicia Granado, Rodolfo Buddy Granado, Monico Granado, Cassandra De la Pena, Elric De la Pena, Ayla Vasquez, Veronica Vasquez, Victoria Gonzalez, Daniel Richard Gonzalez, Sylvia Granado, Marcos Granado, Briana Granado, Joaquin Granados, Trinity Granado and 9 great-grandchildren.
He was a member of “The Greatest Generation”. He volunteered into the U.S. Army on March 1941 through November 1945. During World War II he was in the 75th Division 289th Regiment Company C as a Scout during the Battle of the Bulge in the Ardennes forest of Belgium and the Battle of Colmar, France. Trinidad was awarded commendations that include Combat Infantry Badge, American Campaign, EAME campaign with Three Bronze Stars, Good Conduct Medal, European Theatre of WWII Medal, Victory Medal. In 2013, he was appointed “Chevalier” by the French Legion of Honor in appreciation for the liberation of France. A dedicated brother of the Texas Mexican Railway for 34 years, a proud member of the American Legion Post 59, Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Catholic War Veteran.
The Granado family would like to thank and extend a great appreciation to Dr. Ralph Nimchan and his staff for taking extraordinary care of our father for over 40 years. We would also like to thank Dr. Joseph Camero, Dr. Luis Benavides, Maria Garcia R.N. CEO, and the Nursing staff of Nurses on Wheels home hospice.
Rest in peace old soldier—your kindness, wit, and wisdom will be missed by many but never forgotten.
The family will be receiving guests Tuesday, May 12, 2020, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 8:00 am to 10:30 am. A Holy Rosary will start at 10:30 am. Interment will follow to the Laredo City Cemetery. Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Post 59 of Laredo and presentation of flag will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.
Pallbearers will be Rodolfo Granado, Juan Vasquez, Richard Gonzalez, Daniel Richard Gonzalez, Marcos Granado, and Trinidad Granado Jr.
