Tomas Rodriguez, Jr., 56, entered into eternal rest on, Thursday, October 6, 2022.
Tomas was a proud Nixon High School graduate and football Captain of the class of ’84. He was a mentor to many in the community aside from being a Karate grand master, he had community involvement with Laredo Job Corp, the Laredo School District, and Parks and Recreation.
He is preceded in death by father, Tomas Rodriguez, Sr., maternal grandparents, Federico P. & Carmen Herrera; aunt, Guadalupe Herrera; paternal grandparents, Feliciano Medrano & Felicitas Rodriguez, and Rita Gaytan Rodriguez.
Tomas is survived by his mother, Regina Rodriguez; son, Juan (Reyna) Gonzalez; life partner, Sylvia Everett; grandchildren, Raquel, Catalina, and Mateo, siblings, Gerardo Rodriguez (Gardenia), Ana Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez (Katherine M.), Celina Y. Flores (Rodolfo); nieces and nephews, Ricardo Rodriguez II, Karina Mora, Mark Rodriguez, Matthew Rodriguez, Rodolfo “RJ” Flores, Josue Flores, Anali Flores, Gerardo Rodriguez, and Regina Rodriguez; as well as his pug Princess; and numerous other family and friends.
The family will be receiving guests on Monday, October 10, 2022, in the Angelus chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will be officiated at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 11, 2022, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. A chapel service will be officiated at 9:30 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Ricardo Rodriguez, Ricardo Rodriguez II, Mark Rodriguez, Matthew Rodriguez, Gerardo Rodriguez, RJ, Josh, Rudy Flores, and Gerardo Rodriguez. Honorary pallbearers will be JJ Rendon, Angel Lopez, Arturo Murillo, Jerry Hernandez, Jojo Villafranca, and Juan Gonzalez.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Marissa Gonzalez, Dr. Joseph Camero, Dr. Elsa Canales, and ICU Staff at Laredo Medical Center.
As per the family’s request, face masks are required for those attending the funeral service.
