Theresa Ann Palacios Smith passed away on July 2, 2016, with her family by her side.
Terry, as she was known, was born in Laredo. She attended schools here, graduating from Martin High School.
Her family was embedded in the history of Laredo and South Texas. Her parents were former County Judge and Postmaster Carlos I. Palacios and Mary Dorothy Foster Palacios.
Terry is s survived by: Linda La Flamme (Michael) Haran, her daughter and Michael La Flamme, her son. She is also survived by her siblings: Carlos I. Palacios, Jr. (Leticia) and Edmund Palacios as well as by her grandchildren, Andrea and Michael La Flamme and her nephew Gary Allen (Kim) Miles. She is also survived by her nieces Gail Gonzalez, Patricia Callaway and by many cousins, friends who are left to cherish her memory.
She is predeceased by her parents, grandparents Carlos G. and Rosa de la Garza Palacios and Edmund Jarvis Foster and Delia Mackin Foster as well as sisters Patricia Palacios and Delia Palacios Miles.
Terry was a much-loved member of the Laredo community. She wore many hats. She was a respected Realtor and singlehandedly managed the ranch she loved. She felt a generational attachment to family and took special care of aging relatives when they needed help. Terry loved life and never said no to anyone who needed help. Her wit and charm drew people to her and she always tried to see the positive. She worshipped at Christ Church Episcopal
Terry volunteered her time with several organizations including the Laredo Philharmonic Orchestra. She was a member of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Society of Martha Washington, The Luncheon Club and the Book Club dubbed “The Other Book Club. “ She was a gourmet cook and her catering business was called “Catering to a T.” She began her professional career in real estate while living in California and continued to pursue this upon her return home to Laredo. Terry’s personality was always up-beat and she always went above and beyond to help those seeking new homes or business ventures.
A service celebrating her life will be held at Fred Dickey Funeral Home and Cremation Services 1320 Trey Dr., on Tuesday, July 5 2016, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The memorial service will take place at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name may be made to Christ Church Episcopal, 2320 Lane St, 78043.
