Obituary

Teresita F. Paez

March 8, 1942—January 18, 2024

Teresita F. Paez, 81 years old, entered into eternal rest on Thursday, January 18, 2024. She was born and raised in Laredo, Texas as she proudly told everyone that she met. She attended Our Lady of Guadalupe School from Kinder -8th grade and then became a proud graduate of Martin High School in 1959.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Leocadio Loreto and Tomasa Fierros, her husband, Federico “Lico” Paez and her son, Raymundo Gonzalez, III.

She is survived by her daughters, Loretta (Mario) Cisneros, Geraldina (Jose Miguel “Mike”) Martinez, and Haydee (Genaro Flores) Gonzalez; daughter-in-law, Maria Eugenia “Maru” Gonzalez and stepdaughter, Debora Christina Paez.

Teresita was an amazing “Momo” to her eight grandchildren; Ashley G. Cox, Mario (April) Cisneros, Jr., Bruno “Trey” Mezza, III, Haleena Amaris Martinez, Ayden Michael Martinez, Eileigh Teris Martinez, Katelynn Audrina Rangel and Alfredo “Freddy” Chavarria.

Our beloved mother was cherished by everyone that she met. She enjoyed traveling the world and making pilgrimages to Rome with her church. She was an avid Texas Longhorn and Dallas Cowboy fan.

She instilled in us the value of an education. She wanted to ensure that above all we were always independent. “Ese papelito vale mucho”, as she always reminded us! So, we are truly grateful that her hard work and determination to persevere allowed us to complete our higher learning education.

Mother, you left us so many wonderful memories that we will continue to cherish. You will be missed everyday of our lives. You may be gone, but will never be forgotten. So, for now it’s just a FAREWELL until we see each other again in God’s Heavenly Kingdom. We love you !

When I was a student at MHS, I had the privilege to be in the vice-principal office a few times a week; not by choice. Instead of having Mr. Paez repeat himself, Ms. Gonzalez would allow me to sit in her desk and hand out tardy slips. After about an hour, she would ask me if "si me hiba portar bien"? Of course a few days later I would be back at her desk collecting fake parent notes and giving out tardy slips again. Fast forward 37 years, I would get to see her at the local softball games. We would always say HELLO....but now we weren't STUDENT & ADULT, we were friends! She was one bad ass lady, that I respected wholeheartedly. I will miss you! 😢

How blessed you were with such a wonderful Mom & Grandma. I remember playing & visiting so often as kids, making such great friends with Dina & Haydee. I know it’s not easy & it’s quite painful, but the memories are strength & confirm how wonderfully blessed life has been. Hugs, love, & prayers to you all.🙏🏼🙏🏼❤️

Dina and Haydee. Lots of love to you and your families. Your mom was wonderful and my memories of her are of a fun, energetic, and loving 'tia' figure. She was always so supportive and encouraged us to succeed. Your mom was loved by all of us. I love you both and am thinking of you.

Dina, Lorry and Haydee, Our deepest sympathy and condolences for the loss of your mom. Teresita came into our lives during our high school years and became a significant part of our Azteca neighborhood group. She always dressed nice and looked gorgeous. I used to borrow dresses from her and she never said "no". We are left with good memories of our teen years and will never forget her laughter. We shall always remember her in our prayers.
