Susan Burr

Susan Burr, 66, went to be with the Lord on January 1, 2012, while being surrounded by her loving family at her bedside. Susan Burr was a May 31, 1963, graduate from Martin High School. She received her Bachelor’s of Science in Secondary Education in May 29, 1968, from Texas A&I University, and finished graduate school earning Master of Science on May 13, 1976, from Texas A&I University. Ms. Burr received several certificates of appreciation for her excellence in her service to ASPCA in 2011, and certificate of acknowledgement from Boys Town of America in 2010. She worked LISD for over thirty five years as a speech and drama teacher and later as a school counselor. Ms. Burr wholeheartedly cared for her students and played an active role inspiring them. She had a deep love for her cat, Tiger and had a passion for helping others. She was the most enthusiastic supporter of her great nieces/nephews in their school activities and other involvements such as karate, cheerleading and pageant events. Susan is preceded in death by her parents; James & Flora Burr.She is survived by her sister, Patricia Burr; nieces Donna (Luis Munoz) Coggin, Deborah (Marco) Cavazos; nephew, Bruce Coggin; great-nieces nephews, Danielle Coggin, Garrett Coggin, Loryn Munoz, Erika, Jizelle, Makayla, Marky Cavazos and numerous very dear friends. Family members will be receiving friends and family on Saturday, January 7, 2012, from 5:00pm -9:00pm with a prayer services at 7:00pm, Rev. Sam Lopez officiating. Family would like to express their gratitude to the following: Dr. Jesus Aguirre-Burgos, Dr. Monte Allen, Dr. Cheema, E.R nurse Mauricio Castellanos, 5th floor nursing staff at LMC and Pastor Sam Lopez.
