
Sergio Treviño, 82, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 31, 2015, surrounded by his loved ones. He was born May 19, 1933 in Monterrey; Nuevo Leon, Mexico immigrated to the U.S. in June 1954.
He worked at Inland Steel in East Chicago, Indiana, later at Laredo Packing Company, Laredo Air Force Base (LAFB) as a refueling contractor, Manhattan Surgical Company and retired after 16 years at LISD as a Truant Officer.
Sergio was a caring husband, a loving father and a loyal friend. He enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, hunting, and dancing. He was an active cursillista in the cursillo movement. In his younger years Sergio ran in the Mardi gras marathon 26.2 miles in New Orleans. To all who knew him; he had a great sense of humor.
He was preceded in death by his sons Sergio Treviño, Jr., and Juan Antonio Treviño; his parents, Juan and Carolina Treviño; brother, Juan (Graciela) Trevino; sisters, Yolanda (Antonio) de la Cruz , Carolina (José) Munoz and Nancy Valle.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 59 years Socorro Salinas Treviño, children, Carmen (Dr. Jai ) Joshi and Hugo F. (Celsa) Treviño; 17 grandchildren, Valeria (Michael) Leija, Annell (Edward) Baltazar, John Treviño, Gaby Trevino, Carmen Carolina (Raul) Silva, Jaqueline (Raul) Herrera, Jeanette (Chris) Viladrosa, Allison (Brandon) Trevino, Hugo Treviño, Jr.,Lynn Young, Shanty Garza, Dr. Jasmin Carballo, Omar Guevara, Osmar Carballo, Amy Alejandra Aguilar, Paola Aguilar, Jaime Aguilar, Jr., 9 great-grandchildren; his siblings, Martha (Jose) Flores, Ana Maria (Isidro) Garcia; daughter in law, Aida Treviño; extended family, Humberto Villarreal and Luis (Raquel) Sanchez; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. Garza, Dr. Espinoza, Dr. Varela, Dr. Haber, Doctors Hospital 1st floor nurses; Cindy Garza, Cristina Tristan, Nora, Judy, Jessie, and Carmen; physical therapist, Rudy Hernandez and his caregivers.
