Obituary

Sarah Pauline Parks passed peacefully from this world and into the place in heaven prepared for her by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in the early morning hours of Friday June 16, 2023.  She was 92 years old.  In her last moments, she was loved, comforted and surrounded by her 4 surviving children and family.  Pauline was born to Elmer and Grace Brown on December the 2nd, 1930 and grew up in Edcouch Texas.  She graduated from Edcouch Elsa High School.  In 1949 she met and married JW Parks, and in 1952 they moved to Laredo, Texas.  There, her and JW, raised their 5 children.  Once her youngest child started grade school, Pauline began work outside the home, and spent 10 years working for Young’s Private School, followed by 8 years at Sears Roebuck.

Pauline also served faithfully in her church throughout her life, tirelessly offering her time and love to all areas she was needed in service to the Lord.  She touched the lives of countless people she encountered because of her honest and unashamed love for those around her and motherly disposition that was not reserved for only her children.  Pauline was a mother/grandmother to many more than just her immediate family.  She enjoyed sewing, and quilting and all sorts of other creative works with her hands, and excelled in her creations.  She was not afraid to discipline when it was warranted, but it never overshadowed her caring love.  She always conveyed class and properness in situations where she needed to, and wit and humor where situations allowed.  And she loved and respected her husband JW Parks for the 68 years they were married and continued to after his passing until hers.  To put it shortly, Pauline was a Matriarch to be modeled after.

Pauline was preceded in death by her husband JW Parks, son Richard Parks, and grandson Wesley Brieden.  She is survived by her children; John W. Jr. and June Parks of Pittsburg, Tx; Denise Brieden of Laredo, Tx; Cindy Penuel of Laredo, Tx; Kenneth and Lety Parks of Laredo, Tx.  She had 14 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild all of whom she absolutely adored to the ends of the earth, and her love for them was always on display.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 22 at Fred Dickey Funeral and Cremation Services.  Visitation will be from 8:00 am-10:00 am with service at 10:00 am.   Burial will follow at 11:00 am at Calvary Catholic Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to charity of donator’s choice.

My thoughts and prayers are with Pauline and the family. I did not know her for a very long time, but I know she was very much loved by her family. I enjoyed the times I got to spend with her, Denise, and Cindy. God Bless!

Dearest Parks family, We are so saddened hearing about the passing of Pauline. She was such a wonderful Christian role model for us younger women. No one more giving person than she. She will be missed by many. Our prayers are with you all. It’s not “goodbye” but “see you on the other side in Glory”. Lovingly, Becky & Chester Long

I am honored to have met and spent time with Mrs. Parks. She was a true example of grace and class, and a faithful servant of the Lord who knew what to say to console an anxious heart. I will miss her dearly. May Perpetual light shine upon her soul. My sincerest condolences to her loved ones.
