Rosalinda Rosie Martinez passed away on December 26, 2009 at the age of 57. As a beloved wife, mother, daughter, grandmother, sister, friend and teacher she brought a smile to everyone she knew. Born and raised in Laredo, she built a 15-year career in the oil and gas industry before making the courageous leap to pursue her dream of becoming a schoolteacher. A dedicated student, she graduated valedictorian in her class from TAMIU in 2003 and began teaching kindergarten and first grade classes where she received recognition for developing a model classroom and curriculum. Though diagnosed with leukemia in 2005, her brave battle and positive attitude were an inspiration to all, from her family to her loving students. Mrs. Martinez is survived by her mother Alicia Saenz, husband Richard J. Martinez, children Lori and Richard J. (Jr.) Martinez, grandchildren Elise and Alyssa Gutierrez and sister Lisa Garza.
