Richard Valadez, 47, born in La Mesa, Texas, on February 23, 1967 was called by our Lord on September 28, 2014. Richard was a loving husband, son, father, brother and grandfather.
He loved his family and had a great sense of humor, had a passion for life and a generous heart. Richard was a dedicated peace officer, a Deputy for Webb County from 2007 to 2014 who took great pride in serving our community. During his profession, he was highly respected and had many achievements. He was a Member of the Texas Gang Investigators Association, Member of the Texas Narcotics Officers Association and Member of the Texas Constable’s and Justice of the Peace Association. Richard also was certified as a Basic TCOLE Instructor and as a Mental Health Officer Crisis Intervention Training.
He is preceded in death by his father: Rudolph Valadez and brothers: Jesus Valadez and Edward Valadez.
Left to honor and cherish his memory is his beloved wife: Cynthia L. Valadez, children: Ramiro Medellin, Carlos Medellin, Alyssa Medellin, Agustin (Amanda) Elizondo, David (Josie) Elizondo, Ricardo Valadez and Stephanie (Eddie Cavazos) Valadez, mother: Catalina Valadez, sisters: Guadalupe (Gilbert) Guerrero, Victoria Mejia, Roxanna Mejia, Santa (Benjamin) Lopez and Valerie (Antonio) Morales, grandchildren: Adrian Elizondo, Ricardo Valadez and David Jacob Elizondo, nieces, nephews, other relatives and numerous friends.
The family will be receiving guests Friday, October 3, 2014 from 5pm to 9pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services where Law Enforcement Honors will be rendered at 6pm and a holy rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm.
