Obituary

Placido Contreras Jr. (64) passed away on Friday, December 15, 2023, surrounded by his wife, son, daughter, and son in law.

Placido, known as Junior, was born to Placido and Esperanza Contreras, on October 28, 1959, in Laredo, Texas. He was a band member from Martin High School. Upon high school graduation, he attended Laredo State University to major in Psychology and minor in Spanish. He then began working for Mo-Vac Service Company as a company manager for more than 30 years. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, cooking, traveling, playing basketball, volleyball, softball, and coaching little league and basketball.

Junior is preceded in death by his parents, Placido and Esperanza Contreras, and brothers Roberto and Gerardo Contreras.

He is survived by his wife Alma N. Contreras, children Gino Bryan Contreras, Vianni Katrina Contreras (Julian R. Hernandez), grandson Gino Bryan Contreras Jr., as well as his siblings Anna (Santos) Mendoza, Alicia Castillo, Armando Contreras, Martina Brazell, Ramiro (Emily) Contreras, Tomas (Ana) Contreras, Rosario Contreras, mother and father-in-law Santiago and Carmen Flores, sister-in-law Sandra Contreras, brothers in law Santiago (Beatriz) Flores and Gabriel (Isabel) Flores, nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Junior truly loved giving back to people. He loved being a part of the Brush Country Trail Riders Club, hosting his family for events, being a dance dad, joking around with family, but most importantly, he loved being a husband and father. His love for his family was unconditional and he dedicated his life to give his family everything he could. He did so much for others and expected nothing in return. Junior was a fighter and warrior. His sense of humor and his smile will be missed.

The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, December 20, 2023, from 5 to 9 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, where a Rosary will be recited at 7 pm.
