Rev. Oziel Renteria

Rev. Oziel Renteria, 83, entered into eternal rest Wednesday, December 6, 2023.  Mr. Renteria was born in Allende, Nuevo Leon on July 27, 1940.  He started a humble life working as a child to help provide for his family in places like El Mañana in Nuevo Laredo.  He married the love of his life on April 19, 1962 and immigrated to the United States.  In 1973, he was called by the Lord to serve in the ministry.  Together with his wife, he founded and pastored Templo Magdiel AD in Ejido Rodrigez , Nuevo Leon and Templo Refidim AD in Laguna Salinillas, Nuevo Leon as well as pastored Templo Lirio De los Valles AD and Templo Siloe AD in Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. When he wasn’t pastoring, for many years, he traveled to Mexico on weekends to continue his calling. He worked as a carpenter during the building of Mall Del Norte and later retired from the Trucking Industry.   He was called “Grandpa” or  “Guelito” not only by his grandchildren but by many that crossed his path and who to today call him that. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, friend and faithful servant of God.

Mr. Renteria is preceded in death by his parents, Gregorio and Cleotilde Renteria; sons, Osvaldo Renteria and Victor Renteria; and several siblings.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years of marriage, Sandra L. Renteria; children, Rev. Jose Luis (Elizabeth) Renteria, Fernando Renteria and Sandra (Gerardo) Sifuentes; grandchildren and great grandchildren; sister, Maria Esther Renteria Garza; as well as other family members and friends that will greatly miss him.  The Renteria family wishes to extend their gratitude for the amazing care provided by his doctor and friend Dr. Norberto Alvarez & Staff and Vara Hospice Doctors and Staff.

The Renteria family will be receiving condolences on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Iglesia Emmanuel located at 6424 Polaris Dr, where a prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm.  Officiating will be Rev. Jose L. Renteria and worship by  Emmanuel Worship.  Prayer service will be live streamed on Iglesia Emmanuel’s Facebook page. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Iglesia Emmanuel.  Funeral service will be officiated at 9:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery.
