Norma A. Aguilar, 66, entered into eternal rest Sunday, June 25, 2023.
Norma Alicia who was known more as “Alicia” was a remarkable lady who worked hard and never stopped performing. Since 2000 along with her husband Rodolfo “Popo” Aguilar helped raise the first ever Honor Guard. All of the members were Postal employees and she sewed all the patches on 15 shirts. There were 4 women on the unit. Her husband was Commander of the American Legion 59 for several terms. Alicia and the Honor guard auxiliary were formed and help their unit in decorations and other fund raising activities. They helped decorate our parade floats and also rode with their husbands. Frequently participated in Zapata Fair parade.
Not only did Alicia volunteer for the American Legion but she also helped the VFW 9194, Catholic War Veterans 1906 of which her husband also served in some official capacity. She loved to cook and there were always botanas served at all the meetings.
She worked at UETA Duty Free for more than 12 years starting as a sales clerk and worked her way into Management level. Then she worked for HKG for 3 more years. She made many friends was always in a jovial mood. She enjoyed the parties and dances .She will always be remembered for her kindness and caring for all veterans.
Mrs. Aguilar is survived by her husband of 30 years of marriage; Rodolfo “Popo” Aguilar, children; Jose (Linda) Morales, Michelle Aguilar, Jessica Aguilar, Priscilla (Salvador) Diaz, and Vanessa Aguilar, mother; Maria Ines Morales, grandchildren; Jose Morales, Jr., Dariana Morales, Kelly Michelle Cripe, Alexis Palacios, Salvador Diaz, Jr., Ruben Diaz, and Noah Rodriguez, great grandchildren; Hailey Tienda and Jaedon Morales, siblings; Jose Francisco (Maria) Morales, Jr., Ana Maria Morales, Jose Jesus (Diana) Morales, Gabriela Morales and Laura (Andres) Rocha.
Visitation will be held Thursday, June 29, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held Friday, June 30, 2023 at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. A chapel service will begin at 9:00 am. Interment will follow immediately at the Laredo City Cemetery.
