Obituary

Nancy Santos Lozano, a restless soul, found eternal peace on Monday January 22, 2018.

She is survived by her husband Rudy Lozano, her parents Nohelia and Luis Santos, her grandmother Elia Valdez, her brothers Luis Alberto and Jaime Santos, and her sisters Johanna, Nelly & Ayleen Santos. Also surviving her are nieces, a nephew, countless relatives, loving friends and her fur babies.
Nancy was founder and president of the local non-profit organization, Laredo Cancer Society. An organization that worked towards helping local cancer patients with monetary relief, care services, and support groups.
Nancy was first diagnosed with Stage II cancer when she was only 29 years old. And it was her first-hand experience with cancer that led and empowered her to create LCS in 2015.
Her biggest motivation was to help other people, while sitting on her doctor’s waiting room, Nancy used to listen to other patients’ conversations about economic hardships and their inability to pay for treatment.
By the time she founded the organization, Nancy was already diagnosed with terminal cancer and enrolled in Texas A&M International University pursing a Master’s degree.
Her endurance, perseverance and love for life kept her strong managing to finish her coursework and graduate with a Master’s of Arts in Communication in May 2017. Through the biggest of adversities, Nancy managed to light up every room she entered, and at TAMIU she found the closest of friends that supported her through it all. Through LCS, Nancy organized several fundraising events such as fashion shows, dance balls, and rallies, succeeding in her goal of donating thousands of dollars to Laredoans in need of health care.
Nancy touched a lot of people’s lives during her short lifetime. Through her organization she helped hundreds of patients. Everyone will remember her as the lively girl with colorful wigs and glittery makeup. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Nancy was an inspiration to everyone around her and she will be greatly missed. Laredo has a great loss to grieve.

I am sorry to hear about the loss of your dear loved one. Please accept my condolences at this painful time. Losing a loved one is distressing and as comfort is needed from family and friends, we have assurance from the Bible that "death will be swallowed up forever" at Isaiah 25:8. It is my hope your family will find strength to endure during the days ahead.

I will miss you Nancy. You were a beautiful and caring person. I've met a lot of people but none had your energy. You were truly a force of nature. I don't know why you left us so soon. But you will be missed. I don't know where we go, but wherever it may be, you will be loved. God bless you.

Reciban nuestras condolencias.
