Obituary

Guadalupe Ramos before
Our beloved “Welo”, Mr. J. Guadalupe Ramos Sr., was called upon to by our Holy Father on October 5, 2015, at the age of 93. He was a dedicated and devoted husband, beloved father, loving grandfather, proud great-grandfather. Mr. Ramos proudly served his country in the U.S. Army. Mr. Ramos developed a passion for politics and became an active member in the local campaigning and election process. Mr. Ramos was a member of the Santo Nombre Society at San Luis Rey Church. “Welo” will always be remembered by his family for pulling pranks on his loved ones, his unique sense of humor, his daily afternoon naps, and always having “pan dulce” to offer whenever anyone stopped by. Welo’s passion was ballroom dancing and his favorite group was Tony de la Rosa.
Mr. Guadalupe was a very simple, peaceful and honest man.
Mr. Ramos is preceded in death by his wife Guadalupe F. Ramos, his parents Bernardino and Leonor Ramos, his paternal aunt that raised him Eluteria Gamez, his siblings Marcelino Ramos, Jose Angel Ramos, Juan Ramos, and Vicenta Mendez. He is also survived by his five children Bertha (Julian) Peña, Olga (David) Alvarado, Joe G. (Ruth) Ramos Jr., Jose A. (Sandra) Ramos, and Raul (Griselda) Ramos, 14 grandchildren: Diana Peña Galindo, Eliza Peña, Elsa (Rene) Rodriguez, Christina (Alfonso) Vazquez, Bertha Nieto (Jaime Carmona), Cynthia Ramos, Veronica (David) Perez, Joe G. (Danielle) Ramos III, Melissa Ramos, Jose A. (Jessica) Ramos Jr., Alejandro Ramos, Raul Ramos Jr., Roel Ramos, and Armando Ramos. 11 great-grandchildren, Kristine Jo Galindo, JoAna Galindo, Roberto Julian Peña, Alisa Peña, Amanda Denise Garcia, Alfonso Julian Vazquez, David Kenneth Perez Jr., Jared Aidan Perez, Kassandra Marie Ramos, Jose Alfredo Ramos III, Annie Ramos. He is also survived by his brother Ramiro (Delia) Ramos, and countless cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
A special thanks to all the staff at Laredo Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Garza Lozano, Dr. Benson Huang, and his caregiver Rosalinda (Rosie) Pedroza.
Visitation will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015, from 5 to 9 p.m., and a Vigil of the Deceased will be at 7 p.m. at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 1320 Trey Dr.
Funeral Services will begin promptly at 8:00 a.m. Saturday, October 10, 2015, departing from the funeral home.
Holy Mass will be celebrated at 8:30 a.m. at San Luis Rey Catholic Church.
Committal services and interment will then follow at the Laredo City Cemetery-Veteran’s section.
Pallbearers will be: Jose A. Ramos Jr., Alejandro Ramos, Joe G. Ramos III, Roberto Julian Peña, Raul Ramos Jr., and David C. Alvarado.
Honorary pallbearers will be: Roel Ramos, Armando Ramos, David Perez, Jared Perez, Kassy Ramos, Julian Peña, Alfonso Julian Vazquez, Jaime Carmona and Ramiro Ramos.
