Obituary

Miguel Treviño Sr., at the age of 92, was called by the Lord on Wednesday, April 2, 2014.  He was born in Laredo, Texas, to Cayetano and Trinidad Garza Treviño.  Married to his wife, Sara Saldaña Treviño, for 69 years, she preceded him in death in 2012.  One of nine children, he was preceded in death by Cornelio, Carlos, Alejandro, Cayeteno, and Gloria.  Surviving him are his siblings: Alberto (Bertha) Treviño, Nicolas (Minerva) Treviño and Hilda Treviño.

He is survived by his only child, Miguel Treviño, Jr., daughter-in-law, JoAnn Treviño and grandchildren: Cordy (Richard) Coerver; Mike (Stephanie) Treviño III and Rebecca (Kyle) Leinaar.  Also surviving him are great-grandchildren: Nico and Jake Coerver and Alexandra and Lucas Treviño.  He is also survived by numerous nephews and nieces.

Mr. Treviño was a World War II veteran that served his country serving overseas in Egypt, Libya and Tunisia.  It was while in the service that he honed skills as an amateur boxer.  This interest began when as a teenager he would accept challenges to box fighters that came to town with traveling circuses.

He retired from the General Services Administration as a supervisor where he was recognized and received numerous awards for implementing procedures that were innovative and resulted in reducing costs and increasing efficiency.  Easily described as a jack of all trades, he would often do electrical contracting.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Volunteers Serving the Need (Helping Veterans) P.O. Box 6433 Laredo, Texas, 78042, VSTNveterans@yahoo.com.

To all the Trevino Family: Wonderful memories of your Mom and Dad. My husband was a neighbor to your Mom as a child. He always commented to me what a wonderful family Sra. Sara had. I met them through him at various restaurants and had the pleasure of sharing their early child memories. Both of them had much wonderful stories about Laredo and all the many families they shared as children growing up and later on in the professional business of your Dad. May God help you cope with this great loss of both of them. But remember, they are now together in Heaven. I will never forget them. Norma P. Vargas (Ramiro+)
