Mr. Mauricio Cantu went to be with our Lord on Thursday, February 24, 2022. He started his productive and future life on October 18, 1948.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army and was activated for a tour of duty during the Persian Gulf War. He was part of the National Guard Air Squad for 30 years. He was a kind and caring grandfather, father and brother. His life centered around his family.
He was a fun loving and avid golfer and fisherman. And he traveled with his fishing club to Montana and Costa Rica on a regular basis. He was an ardent supporter of the Border Olympics High School Golf Program. He always lent a helping hand.
He graduated from St. Joseph Academy in Laredo and spent two years at Clarendon College on a basketball scholarship. He then forged his life in the Texas Department of Public Safety and retired after 35 years. He then started Cantu Logistics Consulting Firm where he was successful until the Lord called him. Physically, he was an imposing presence and only his heart was bigger.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Pedro Cantu, Sr. and Guadalupe Freed Cantu in addition to his siblings Pedro Cantu, Jr., Sylvia E. Garcia and Maria Imelda Cantu. He was also preceded in death at a young age by Crystal Lorraine Cantu, the mother of his two daughters.
