Mary and my son, Trey Hughes, were partners at LAS Imports for many years. She was a great mentor and friend to him. My father, John Fitzgibbon was a good friend of Leo and Mary and we all had great admiration for both of them. Mary was a smart, kind and hardworking person who ran a successful import/export business for thirty years. She loved animals and looked forward to the big fundraiser they gave each year for her favoite charity - The Laredo Animal Society. Each year good friends and customers gathered on the second story balcony of LAS Imports to share food and good times while watching the Laredo Washington Birthday Celebration Parade. We will all miss her happy smile and her goodness. She was blessed by Alex for the last 15 years of her life. He took good care of her. She was always so proud of her son Don. We send him our prayers at this time.
I am so sorry for your loss. May she Rest In Peace
On behalf of the Laredo Animal Protective Society (LAPS) I wish to thank Mary for her love of animals and the help she has given to LAPS through the years, especially for the parade-watching fund raiser she hosted for many years. For a donation to LAPS, donors could watch the grand George Washington Celebration parade from the second floor porch overlooking the parade route. Mary was a kind person and LAPS has many memories of this. She will be missed.
