“A limb has fallen from our family tree….”
With profound sadness we announce that our loving mother and grandmother, Martha Garza Medina, 65, went on to be with our Lord Monday evening, July 27, 2020.
She was born February 15, 1955, in Laredo, TX, a daughter of the late Robert R. and Elva Solis Garza.
Despite her battles over the years with Sarcoidosis, Liver cirrhosis, and finally Covid-19, she never ceased to put others first. She was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother and her family was her everything, especially her grandchildren. She was a woman of faith and was kind and generous to all who crossed her path. Martha loved attending all her grandchildren’s school/sport events and was their biggest fan. She always loved to make everyone feel special when they visited her home and loved to host and decorate extravagantly for holidays/events. She told many stories of her childhood memories in Mirando City, TX, especially as a cheerleader and basketball player.
Over the years, Martha worked as a preschool teacher at Kristi-Lins Academy, a driver license tech with DPS and retired after being a counselor’s secretary at Alexander High School.
Our hearts are broken and she will be missed tremendously.
Martha was preceded in death by her parents, and brother Frank Garza.
She is survived by her best friend and husband of 30 years, Abundio J. Medina; four children, Sarah Janel (Julian) Perez, Joseph R. (Claudia) Molina, A.J. Medina Jr, and Julie Reneá Medina; two step-children, Jessie O (Norma) Medina, and Elizabeth M. (David) Cantu; and Thirteen grandchildren, Bella, Krista, Maiya, Mia, Alyiah, Dakota, Darynn, Faith, Jesse Jr., Jacob, Rebekkah, Jaydin, and Asher. Four sisters; Nelda Flores, Norma Davila, Yolanda Ramirez, Janie Sanchez and three brothers; Johnny Garza, Oscar Garza, Pete Garza, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
