Maria V. “Betty” Almazan, 59, was called by the Lord to her resting place in Heaven on September 24, 2017.
Mrs. Almazan was excellent at every role- wife, mother, daughter, sister, aunt, educator and friend. She started her teaching career at Nixon Annex in 1981 and then she taught at Cigarroa High School for 13 years. In 1997 she went to Nixon High School where she was starting her 21st year. Mrs. Almanzan was truly admired for the great education she shared with her students.
Left to cherish her memory is her husband of 22 years, Jose Angel Almazan; her son, Jose Enrique Almazan; siblings, Hilario (Gloria) Solis Jr., Jose A (Sylvia G.) Solis, Sylvia S. (+ Gerardo) Trevino, Ofelia (Narciso) Rocha and Roberto (Claudina) Solis; nephews and nieces, Hilario Solis, III, Sandra Garza, Jose Solis, Ricardo Solis, Marcos Solis, Michelle Vasquez, Dimitri Rocha, Roberto Solis, Vanessa Jimenez, Christina Rosas and Gino Solis.
The family will receive guests Wednesday September 27, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held Thursday, September 28, 2017, at Divine Mercy Catholic Church. Funeral mass will start at 9:30 a.m. Inurnment will follow at a later date.

To Almazan and Solis families I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Please accept my deepest & heartfelt condolences. We grew up with Betty and fondly remember the good times we shared. During a short visit we had not too long, Betty beamed with so much happiness and pride of her son; I will never forget that chance meeting and of course, her beautiful smile and laughter. Amen" Joe and Kike, Betty and I began our teaching career at Nixon Annex so many years ago. We also continued to work together at Cigarroa High. She was a lovely person, a hard worker, a faithful friend. We were all so lucky to have had her in our lives. God bless you.

Our baby sister is gone. You never said I'm leaving , you never said goodbye. you were gone before we knew it and only God knows why. In life we loved you dearly, in death we love you still. In our hearts we hold a place that only you can fill. It broke our hearts to lose you, but you did not go alone. A part of us went with you, the day God took you home. We were a family in the hall for Career and Technology and we loved every minute of it. Joe my condolences to you and your son. We have an angel in heaven and she will be protecting you and your son.

A beautiful soul, full of love and faith, ascended to heaven, away from us, but closer to God, leaving loneliness and sadness. We will miss our beautiful cousin who was like a sister to us. The sleepovers were most memorable, especially when we had a sleepwalker amongst the group. Heaven has gained an angel. Love you cuz! Give a hug to my dad-Tio Mando for me. You will always be in my prayers
