Maria I. Nieto

Maria Irma Nieto, 61, was called by her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ to his heavenly home on June 4, 2013, in Laredo, Texas.Mrs. Nieto was born in Corpus Christi, TX to Mr. Remigio H. and Beatriz Aguilar and had been residing in Laredo for over 35 years. After receiving her degree in General Education from Texas A&I University in Kingsville, Texas, Maria Irma began working as an educator at United Independent School District. She taught at both Clark Elementary and Middle Schools for many years, enriching and touching the lives of countless of youths during her tenure. Shortly after leaving the classroom, Maria Irma began her journey as a Head Librarian for D.D. Hachar Elementary School in Rio Bravo, Texas before assuming the same position at Juarez Lincoln Elementary, in the same city.Following a brief retirement, Maria Irma chose to continue enriching minds and held a position in the Adult Education Department of Laredo Community College for her remaining years. Her love for education was rivaled only for her tender love of her garden, which she spent many mornings and afternoons tending to, often helped by her loving husband and children.She is preceded in death by her parents, Remigio H. and Beatriz Aguilar.She is survived by her loving husband of over 35 years, Francisco Tomas Nieto: children, Francisco T. Jr., Esteban Nicolas (Deborah S.) and Veronica Beatriz Nieto; sister Irene (Jose Manuel) Menchaca-McAllen, TX; brothers Joseph and Alfonso Aguilar–Corpus Christi, TX; also, several nieces and nephews, relatives and close friends. The family will be receiving guests at Fred Dickey Funeral and Cremation Services on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm where a holy rosary recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2013 from the funeral home via cortege to Saint Patrick Catholic Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:30 am.
