On Thursday, February 8, 2024, we parted ways with our beloved Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Sister, Aunt, and Friend, Maria Estela Lopez of Laredo, TX. She was a strong woman of faith and had a passion for cooking, crafts, sewing, gardening, and spending quality time with family.  One of her favorite dishes were tamales.

After battling numerous chronic medical conditions and hospitalizations, she demonstrated what a true warrior really is. She was a devoted loving mother that always wanted the best for her children. She always encouraged her children to stay united and love and protect each other.

Mrs Lopez is preceded in death by her son, Mario Perez, Jr.; parents, Herman & Anita Cortinas; brothers, Ruben Cortinas and Herman Cortinas.

She is survived by her children, Estela (Mario) Cardenas, Elia (Vicente Jimenez) Perez, Yvonne (Ruben) Atilano, Yvette (Daniel) Quintal, Gilbert (Nancy) Perez and Imelda (Luis Garcia) Lopez; as well as other family members and friends.

The family will be receiving condolences on Monday, February 12, 2024 in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.  A prayer service will commence at 10:00 am officiated by Rev. Pablo Torres.  Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be:  Isaac Perez, Erik Guerrero, Leo Arredondo, David Jimenez, Jay Dickey, Liam Quintal, Abraham Perez and Ethan Ochoa.
