Obituary

Lilia V. Serna, 89, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, February 8, 2024.
Ms. Serna is preceded in death by her parents, Reyes & Tadea Velasquez; husband, Ricardo T. Serna; son, Ricardo Rafael “Ricky” Serna; brothers, Rodolfo (Elizabeth) Velasquez, Salvador (Amanda) Velasquez and sister in law Guadalupe Velasquez.

She is survived by her daughters, Leticia Salinas and Arlene (Felix, III) Fuentes; brother, Raul Velasquez; grandchildren, Kassandra (Enrique, III) Ruiz, Ricardo (Lily) Salinas, Mark (Berenice) Salinas, Juan Salinas, Julio (Cassandra) Fuentes and Rebecca Fuentes; great-grandchildren, Eunice (Robert Sifuentes) Ruiz, Eileen Ruiz, Lia, Ricardo, Solani, and Sarah Salinas; lifelong friends, Alta T. Guajardo, Delfina W. Gonzalez, Elsa De la Garza and Catalina Garza.

Our beloved Awi, as she was adoringly known by all who loved her, was a loving wife to the love of her life, Ricardo for 63 years. She was an amazing mother, grandmother, great- grandmother, aunt and friend. She loved sitting outside on her favorite chair to water all her plants. On Sundays, without fail, she liked to take a drive for an ice-cream or a raspa. She loved her maquinitas, but her favorite thing of all was spending time with her family. Awi will be greatly missed and remembered always.

The family will be receiving guests on Thursday, February 15, 2024, in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday February 16, 2024 from the funeral home to Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 9:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
