Leonardo “Leo” Lopez, Sr. passed away on Saturday, October 21st at Laredo Medical Center.

Leo was a dedicated husband and father, passionate about his family, the family ranch, and his genealogy.

He had recently retired due to illness after 17 years of loyal service to USDOT.  Previous employment also included Anzon, Inc., and Western Oil Services.  He was also involved with the Knights of Columbus and was a Scout Leader for the Boy Scouts of America.  Leo’s wife and his kids will cherish their last and happiest family vacation with him in Hawaii last summer.

Leo is preceded in death by his parents Alvaro and Rosa Maria Lopez, and several aunts and uncles.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife Martha Valenzuela Lopez, children: Leonardo Lopez Jr., Luis Lopez, Jennifer Lopez, Richard Lopez and Elysa (Felipe) Hernandez, as well as grandchildren Andrew and Christian.  He is also survived by siblings Alvaro (Arabela) Lopez Jr., Elia Hilda (Blas) Castaneda, Adriana Lopez, Carmen (Robert) Tijerina, Gerardo (Sylvia) Lopez, Jorge Lopez, Rosaura (David) Copeland.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 9:00 PM with a Rosary at 7:00 PM, on Thursday, October 26, 2017, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, 1320 Trey Dr., Laredo, TX.  Funeral service will be Friday, October 27, 2017.  Funeral procession will depart at 9:00 AM from Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services to San Martin de Porres Catholic Church, 1704 Sandman, Laredo, TX.  Funeral mass will start at 9:30 AM.  Burial service will not be held.
