Obituary

Larry Lepovitz was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 27, 2019.

Larry no doubt was received in the loving arms of his parents Lewis and Ruth Lepovitz. And parents-in- law, Jose de la Rosa and Concepcion Ramirez.

Not a Laredoan by birth but a Laredoan by heart. He moved here in 1960, where he met the love of his life Bonnie Ramirez. After a brief 3 month courtship, they married. God gifted them 4 children Leslie (Bill) Young, Lewis (Lillian) Lepovitz, Lloyd (Milly) Lepovitz, Lizzie (Dan) Solcher. Loved by 6 granddaughters and 5 grandsons, Charlotte (Levi) Magda, Victoria Young, Sapphire Young, Laeree Lepovitz, Lyndsey Lepovitz, and Sophia Solcher.  Grandsons Richard Lepovitz, Bobby Lepovitz, Lyndon L.J. Lepovitz, Mauricio Garcia, and Tito Garcia. And great-grandson Julius Washington.

Also survived by his only brother Warren Jan Lepovitz and his loving aunt Elizabeth L. Harms and a large family of cousins, nieces, and nephews who all loved him dearly.

A man of laughter, joy and service, Larry lit up any room he entered. Join us as we celebrate his life Thursday, January, 2, 2020 at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A Holy Rosary will start at 7:00 pm.

My sincerest condolences to the Lepovitz family. We all grew up together in the old neighborhood and I have so many fond memories of Mr. Lepovitz coming home from work to find us playing in your home. And you are right, his energy lit up an already energized household. He was always so welcoming and took the time to ask me questions about myself - what little kid didn’t eat that up! Such a warm and generous soul. Heaven gained an angel.

Our sincere condolences to the extended Lepovitz family for your loss. Larry was a great man who I will always remember with kindness and respect. Here is a poem to remember him by. Bobby and Queta Simpson and family. Another leaf has fallen, another soul has gone. But still we have God’s promises, in every robin’s song. For he is in His heaven, and though He takes away, He always leaves to mortals, the bright sun’s kindly ray. He leaves the fragrant blossoms, and lovely forest, green. And gives us new found comfort, when we on Him will lean.

Larry attended school in Madrid, Iowa. He was in my brother's class, three years ahead of me. I used to see him at Madrid's All-School reunions. From the time he was young, Larry always seemed a happy guy. Condolences to his family.
