Dr. Jose Manuel Garza, 75, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Jose Manuel Garza passed away peacefully surrounded by family.

Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Jose moved to Laredo when he pursued his medical degree. He was a loving husband to his wife Sylvia Garza and together they worked side by side. Jose Manuel Garza served the Laredo Community as a physician for the past 40 years, having worked at Mercy Hospital and later in private practice. He enjoyed working alongside his wife and providing the community with impeccable service. He enjoyed reading books, collecting videos and was a fan of Marilyn Monroe. A quiet man, he took his profession very seriously and devoted his entire life to the medical profession.

Jose is preceded in death by his parents: Jesus Garza and Amelia Garza Valdes and his brother in law: Dr. Luis Lauro Ayala Garza.

Jose Manuel is survived by his wife; Sylvia Garza, son, Joey Garza, step-children: Jackie (Fernando) Ramos, Dale Leven, Jesse (Denise) Leven, step grandchildren: Jeffrey, Kristina, Stacy, Audrina, Khloe, and Jesse, and step great grandchildren: Rory and Violet. Siblings; Norma (Luis Lauro+)Ayala, Amelia (Donnie) McDonald as well as other family members and friends that will greatly miss him.

Funeral services will be held privately; but condolences will be well received on this site.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent in Dr. Garza’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association. The Association helps families and those affected by Alzheimer’s and Dementia and work to find a cure to this debilitating disease.

Jose was a very kind man. He was funny and had an incredible zest for life. He loved being a physician and cared deeply for his patients. I’ll never forget the first day I met him in the Emergency Room and especially our endless conversations. He loved his family very much. To his wife Sylvia and the entire Garza family, my deepest condolences. I hope that your memories of Jose bring you comfort. May Jose rest in eternal peace.
