Jose Gabriel Esquinca Salinas

05/16/1924 – 05/24/2023

Jose Gabriel Esquinca Salinas, 99 entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 24, 2023.  He died peacefully in his residence in Laredo, Texas in the company of his children.

Born in SuChiapa, Chiapas, moved to Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas Mexico in 1954, where he worked in The Resguardo Aduanal Mexicano for 39 years, he considered Laredo his hometown.

Mr. Esquinca is preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Alicia Salinas Montemayor de Esquinca, by his parents Jose Enrique Esquinca Nucamendi and Consuelo Salinas Gomez de Esquinca by his siblings: Felix, Jose Enrique, Amilcar, Rene & Hermelinda Esquinca.

He loved the outdoors, enjoyed gardening, and was an avid hunter.  He always loved to play domino with family and his closest friends, liked to recite stories of his childhood memories and adventures, and was always ready to offer advice to anyone who would seek it.

Left to cherish his memory are his Children: Jose Gabriel (Sonia) Esquinca, Sara Alicia Esquinca, Patricia Ann Esquinca, Felix Enrique (Laura) Esquinca, Humberto Noe (Ana Maria) Esquinca, Alma Leticia Esquinca (Gilbert) Narvaez, & Hector Hugo (Ileana) Esquinca. Grandchildren: Cynthia, Jose Gabriel III, Noe Orlando, Julia Isabel, Mark Anthony, Stephanie Ashley, Fernando III, Patty Ann, Laura Isabel, Connie Frances, Diana Alicia, Glennda, Humberto Noe Jr., Itzayull, Kassandra Naomi, Glen, Alicia Gabriela, Gabriel Alejando, Jessica Judith and Hector Hugo Jr., 14 Great Grandchildren, Sister Consuelo Esquinca, and numerous relatives and friends.

Pallbearers will be: Jose Gabriel Esquinca, Felix Enrique Esquinca, Humberto Noe Esquinca, Hector Hugo Esquinca, Mark Anthony Ortega, Fernando Vasquez III, Gabriel Alejandro Narvaez & Gilbert Narvaez Jr.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 9, 2023 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, where a rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will be Saturday, June 10, 2023, from the funeral home to San Agustin Cathedral. Funeral mass will begin at 9:00 am. Cremation services will be held at a later date.
