This is late in coming. But, John Smart was a Born Again believer in the Lord Jesus Christ of Nazareth. He served faithfully as a fellow believer in the Gideon organization here in Laredo by placing Holy Bibles where needed. Even in his old age, he was out there canvassing with bibles in his community. He knew how important it was for people to have a Bible in their hands to read God's Holy Scriptures. Praise the Lord that now you are in heaven in celebration with your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ of Nazareth and, as well as, with your lovely wife. Your brother in Christ David Vasquez

Thank you, Mr. Smart for the many years of service and support of youth chess in Laredo. Your devotion and promotion of the game will be remembered by your many students you coached at Martin High School. On behalf of the Laredo Chess Club, we salute you!
