Obituary

John Carl Miller, 78, passed away Tuesday, December 29, 2015.

John was a beloved brother, favorite uncle, best friend to Angela Wickstrom Cantu, and a devoted compadre to all that knew him.  John was a Vietnam veteran and he served with the Laredo Police Department, was the Chief of Airport Police, had been a U.S. Customs Inspector, and was a retired Deputy U.S. Marshall and peace officer.

He is preceded in death by his father: Jack Miller, mother: Mary Menenko and sister: Toni Bienek.

Left to cherish his memory is his sister: Nadine Jasso Pabst, nephews: Christian (Christiana) Fogal and Benjamin Fogal, nieces: Rebecca (Anthony) Curtis and Crystal Estrada Towns.

The family will receive guest Thursday, December 31, 2015, from 9:00 am to 11:00 am at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services.  A celebration of life will commence at 11:00 am.  Interment will follow to the City Cemetery.  Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army and Flag Fold Presentation by the American Legion Post 59.

In lieu of flowers, his family asks for donations to be made to either the American Legion Post 59 or the Veterans of Foreign War.

It was with great sorrow to learn about the passing of John,(J C , as we called him). He was a great friend and a great partner in the Laredo Police Dept. we will surely miss him. He is now in a better place.

Thanks for the memories old friend may God have mercy on your soul and grand you eternal peace. To your family and friends my deepest condolences let me assure you that your lose is my lose too. John and I served with the Laredo Police Dept. back in the days when the PD was just starting to grow. I still remember the night that three of our officers were gunned down at the Soul Espanol club on Arkansas Ave. That evening we all had been at John's enjoying the evening and having a good time. Sorry to hear about the passing of John(JCas we knew him). We were in the police department and he always kept us laughing. We always had a good relationship. He is in a better place now.
