Jesus Hernandez, 87, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2017. Mr. Hernandez was born in Laredo, Texas and had been a lifelong resident.
He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. He served as a lineman with CO B, 51st signal Bn. FECOM where he earned the Korean Services Medal, with 1 Bronze Service Star and the United Nations Service Medal.
He retired from Mercy Hospital where he worked for 32 years; he first joined the maintenance department and then served as Assistant Director of Mercy’s Laundry Department.
Mr. Hernandez is preceded in death by his loving wife of 61 years, Gloria Martha Hernandez and son: Mario Alberto Hernandez.
He is survived by his children: Martha Laura Hernandez, Rosario H. Lanier, Jesus Manuel Hernandez, Gerardo (Sylvia) Hernandez, Ricardo Lorenzo Hernandez, Alma (Carlos) Maya, Angelica (Clifford) Black, Martin Enrique (Veronica) Hernandez, Carlos Alejandro (Veronica) Hernandez, Daniel (Lori) Hernandez, Adriana (Roberto, Jr.) McClure, Oscar Pablo (Linda) Hernandez, Jose Agustin (Melissa) Hernandez and Ivan Hernandez, sister; Paula Hernandez, grandchildren: Kimberly Ann, Xavier A., Montzerrat L., Irina J., Katarina G., Yelina A., Bernadette, Eduardo F., Jesus A., Oscar O., Marisela, Jose Angel, Carlos Alberto, Ricardo De Jesus, Selena, Jorge Daniel, Laurence Andrew, Brianna, Alessandra, Ivan, Jr., Mario A., Tiffany, Jessica, Gerardo, Florencio, Felix, Esmeralda, Ruby, Perla, Sandy, Gabriela Agustina, Mario Alberto, Alejandro Nicolas, Robert A. III, Samantha, Brian A., Jonathan A. and Kevin A., great-grandchilden: Arabella May, Alexzander, Emma, Sofia and Juliett R.
The family will receive guests Monday, May 15, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, with a rosary to be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 16, 2017, at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Full military honors will be provided by the American Legion Post 59 and The United States Army.
In lieu of flowers the family is requesting Mass Service set for Jesus Hernandez.
