James John Orfila Jr.

James John Orfila Jr, age 84, entered eternal rest on October 29, 2022. He died peacefully with his beloved wife by his side.
He was a graduate of Martin High School ‘s Class of 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany. He worked for The Laredo National Bank as an Assistant Vice President of Commercial Loans and retired after 41 years. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He loved all his nieces and nephews like his own children.
He is preceded in death by his parents James & Estela Orfila, brother, John E. Orfila, sisters Estela(Juan M+) Guerra & Antonia (Gabriel+) Ibarra, father & mother-in-law Leopoldo & Marcelina Guardiola. Sisters in law, Victoria Guardiola, Delfina (Ruben+) Viera, brother-in-law, Luis (Idolina+) Guardiola.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years Alicia G. Orfila, daughter, Monica (David) York, sons, Santiago (Alma) Orfila & Leopoldo Orfila. Sisters Angela (Mario+) Casares & Alicia (Peter) Farias. Sisters in Law, Laura M. Orfila, Rebecca & Rosalia Guardiola, brothers-in-law, Leopoldo (Adriana+) Guardiola & Pedro (Estela) Guardiola. Grandchildren Joanna (Tim) York-Dorey, David James York, Kayla, Kendra, Kiana, Santiago Jr., Angela, Leopoldo Jr., James & Kimberly Orfila, 2 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers: David York Jr., David James York, Tim Dorey, Santiago Orfila, John Orfila, and Michael Farias.
Honorary Pallbearers: Roque Perez, Juan Luis Perez, Humberto Guerra, Abraham Ramon.
The family will be receiving guests on Friday, November 4, 2022, in the Angelus chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 8:00 am to 10:00 am. Funeral services will continue to San Luis Rey Catholic Church located at 3502 Sanders Ave, Laredo, TX 78040. The Funeral Mass will begin at 10:30 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery where Military Honors will be provided by the Laredo Veterans Honor Guard and Presentation of the U.S. Flag will be provided by the U.S. Army Honor Guard.

My heartfelt condolences to the Orfila Family. I am the niece of Roque, Humberto and Alejandro Perez. I remember Mr. Orfilia from my childhool days when he would come over to my grandparents house on Zaragoza Street. As the years passed, Mr. Orfila continue to be friends with my Uncles and my Family, Rodolfo and Edna Oliveira. Mr. Orfila was a wonderful person. My deepest condolences to the Orfila Family; I never had met Mr Orfila but I got to know about Him from Santiago Orfila; often times Santiago will share the time that he spent with his father and I learned about His love for His family and how he was always giving advice to Santiago on how to be a better person.
