James “Jim” Williams IV, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and respected businessman, passed away peacefully at the age of 86. Born in Houston, Texas, in 1937, Jim lived a life marked by kindness, dedication, and a deep appreciation for the simple joys of life.
Jim’s love for his family was profound. He shared a deep and abiding love with his wife, Nancy, who preceded him in death in 2017 after fifty-nine years of marriage. Their life together was a testament to enduring love and partnership. Jim is survived by his son, James Williams V (Claudia Farias Williams). His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, James Williams VI, Brandon Williams (Mikayla), Nicholas Williams (Elizabeth), and great-granddaughter Ainsley, the light of Jim’s later years.
Jim’s early years were spent in Houston, where he developed a love for learning and adventure. He graduated from the University of Houston with a degree in Geology, a path that took him on an unexpected journey into the automotive industry. His career began at General Motors in Houston, but in 1970, when he moved to Laredo, Texas, he truly found his calling. With a heart full of optimism and determination, Jim purchased a multi-line new car and a Honda motorcycle dealership. In 1975, his entrepreneurial vision led him to expand the business to include Honda cars, giving rise to “Honda of Laredo”.
Jim’s commitment to his community was unwavering. As a long-standing member of the Rotary Club, he embodied the values of service and leadership. His various roles, including President, were a testament to his dedication to positively impacting those around him.
Beyond his professional life, Jim was a man deeply connected to nature. He found peace and fulfillment in the great outdoors, where he spent much of his retirement. As an avid hunter, fisherman, and private pilot, Jim’s happiest moments were often spent on a hunt in Colorado or Alaska or at his secluded fishing camp, casting lines for speckled trout and redfish. The quiet moments in nature brought him a sense of serenity that balanced his active life.
Jim’s hands were never idle, even in retirement. He was always working on a project, whether it was building, fixing, or simply tinkering with something. His days were filled with purpose, and his work ethic and breadth of knowledge on diverse topics were an inspiration to those who knew him.
Jim’s presence in the lives of his family and friends was a gift that will be treasured always. His gentle spirit, unwavering love, and the countless memories he created will live on in the hearts of those who were fortunate enough to know him.

Dear James, Claudia and family, We were deeply saddened to hear of your recent loss. We will keep your family in our thoughts and prayers. May Mr. Williams rest in peace.
Jim was my boss and my friend. I went to work for Jim in 1980. In 1895 Jim recommended me for a position at American Honda Motor Corporation. My work life at Honda lasted 35 years. That job rewarded me with a great life and retirement for me and my family. I will always be thankful to Jim for that. Rest in peace Jim.
