Obituary

Hilda went to be with the Lord on this beautiful Easter Monday, April 6, 2015.  Hilda was a loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend who will be missed dearly by all her family and friends. She is preceded in death by her father Trinidad Calderon Sandoval+.

Hilda was born and raised in Laredo, TX. She was a totally family oriented woman.  Her passion was her children.  She had a devoted love for her mother, brothers and sisters.  Hilda always called her mother every day before going in to work to ask her for her blessings and would say “Ama, prende tus veladoras por mi!”  She called her sisters with the same old words “que onda, que se oye!” Hilda was the light of the party with a magnet to attract friends from all walks of life. Remember her as she was a beautiful person inside and out.

Hilda was very proud to be part of the CBP Laredo Sector Border Patrol Family.  She worked at the Communications Department where she served as a Law Enforcement Communications Specialist.  She was a woman with very strong work ethics.  Just the way her mother Mercedes raised her to be.

Hilda is survived by her mother Mercedes H. Calderon; children: Glenda Elizabeth Garcia, Hector Mario Garcia and Glen Joseph Garcia Jr.; siblings: Santiago (Maria) Calderon, Armando (Delia) Calderon, Silvestre Calderon, Elena Calderon (Gustavo) Rojas, Jose Calderon, Roberto Calderon, Sofia Calderon, Mary Calderon, Alicia Calderon (Leonard) Forth, Isabel Calderon (Humberto) Trevino, Elizabeth Calderon (Miguel) Salinas and Cesar Alberto (Miriam) Calderon and numerous nieces and nephews.

Special Thanks to the LRT Honor Guard, LRT BP Peer Support Team and the DFW CBP Peer Support team. Thank you for your prompt response to our needs during this very difficult time, to the Roger L. Von Amelunxen Foundation for their generous donation, to the Webb County Road and Bridge Dept. employees for their help during our fundraisers, to the Laredo Sector Border Patrol employees and her beloved LECA Team. Mrs. Olga Avila, LRT Communications Chief and Mrs. Flo Gonzalez, LRT Communications Supervisor, your response was amazing. Friends and Family, THANK YOU for your unconditional support.

The family will be receiving friends, Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 5:00pm to 9:00pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services where a holy rosary will be recited at 7:00pm.  Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015, at the funeral home chapel.
