Gilda Y. “Curly” Garza, our beloved mother, entered eternal peace on February 24, 2014 in Laredo, Texas. She was a strong, fun-loving, family oriented, passionate individual. Gilda was devoted to those she loved; her countless memories and charisma will always live on forever.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Alicia O Garcia, brother, Oscar Garcia Jr., nephew, Bo Garcia, brother in law, Conrado Valadez and other family members.
Left to cherish her memory are her father, Oscar Garcia, children: Oscar (Monica) Garza Jr., Christopher Garza, Gilda Y (Jesse) Vega and Brittney Garza, 9 grandchildren, Godson, Joey Santos, siblings: Dolly Valadez, Dennis D. (Anna) Garcia, Brigitte L. Grant, Jackie Y. (Jose Luis) Santos, Perry G. (Linda) Garcia and Barney D. Garcia, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
A visitation will be held on Monday, March 3, 2014, from 5pm to 9pm at Fred Dickey Funeral and Cremation Services, 1320 Trey Drive, Laredo, TX, 78041, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00pm. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, March 4, 2014, from the funeral home to San Luis Rey Church where a funeral mass will be celebrated at 8:30am. Interment will follow immediately at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Oscar Garza Jr., Christopher Garza, Dennis D. Garcia, Jose Luis Santos, Perry G. Garcia, Barney D. Garcia, Joey Santos and Oscar D. Garcia III.
