Gerardo Ibarra Garza, 82, entered into eternal rest, on Tuesday, April 2nd, 2024. He was surrounded by his loving wife, children and family.
He is preceded in death by his father, Arturo Ibarra Lozano and mother, Virginia Garza de Ibarra. He is survived by his wife of 55 years of marriage, Nelda Garcia Ibarra; daughters, Nelda Ibarra and Sylvia Ibarra Villalon, son in law Homero Villalon; grandchildren, Ricardo, Daniel, Gerardo & Homero Joel; Three great granddaughters, as well as other family members and friends that will greatly miss him.
Gerardo, as his friends called him Chaldo affectionately, enjoyed spending time with family and friends, playing basketball and hiking mountains. A Sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, Gerardo served as a squad leader with Troop B, 3d Squadron, 5th Cavalry, 9th Infantry Division in 1967, receiving 3 Bronze Stars, the Combat Infantry Badge and the Army Commendation Medal, among others.
The family will be receiving condolences on Sunday, April 7, 2024, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Military Honors will be provided at 6:00 pm. A rosary will be held at 7:00 pm. Inurnment will be held at a later date.
