Fernando G. Vasquez, 65, entered into eternal rest on Friday, September 29, 2017, in San Antonio, Texas.
Fernando was the youngest of 12 children. He was born and grew up in Laredo, Texas. Married his high school sweetheart. Fernando worked for Levi Strauss Co. for 35 years. During this time, he was given the opportunity to relocate to San Antonio, Texas where he retired in 2004. His life’s joy included spending time with his children and grandchildren and celebrating their successes.
Mr. Vasquez is preceded in death by his son; Baby Fernando; his parents, Octaviano and Lilia Vasquez; brothers, Maximino (+Maria) Vasquez, Salvador Vasquez, Carlos (+Ana Maria) Vasquez and Roberto (+Yolanda) Vasquez; brother-in-laws, Francisco Inocencio and Jose A. Peña.
Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 47 years of marriage, Irma Y. Vasquez; children, Kathy (Robert) Frei, Fernando (Monica) Vasquez, Jr., Lillian Vasquez (Javier Willars); grandchildren, Kevin, Kennedy, Dylan, Madison, Javier and Angeliana; siblings, Octaviano Vasquez, Jr., Alfredo (Eva) Vasquez, Maria Luisa Inocencio, Elisa Peña, Carolina (Porfirio) Garza, Jose Luis (Sandra) Vasquez and Juan (Yolanda) Vasquez, sister-in-law, Paulina Vasquez, nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Family will receive guests Friday, October 6, 2017, from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral service will be Saturday, October 7, 2017, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Funeral mass will start at 9:00 am. Interment will follow at the Calvary Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Robert Frei, Kevin Frei, Dylan Rodriguez, Angel Javier Willars, Gerardo Miguel Rios and Luis Estrada, Jr. Honorary pallbearers will be: Fernando Vasquez, Jr. and Juan A. Vasquez.
