Obituary

Ezequiel Mancha Jr., 57, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, November 30, 2023 with his family by his side. Mr. Mancha was born in Chicago, IL and came to live in Laredo during his high school years. He attended J.W. Nixon High School, United High School and Laredo Community College. On January 22, 1988, he married his beloved Christine Twombly Mancha and together they raised four beautiful daughters. He found his law enforcement calling when he began his career as a patrolman with the Laredo Police Department and later promoted to Investigator. He dedicated 21 years to LPD. He enjoyed serving as a Field Training Officer, training new patrolmen. He was an FBI Task Force member for 9 years, receiving numerous commendations. He concluded his career with the Laredo Police Department serving as a Narcotics Investigator, until he retired in 2013. He continued his investigative career working for the Webb and Zapata County District Attorney, Chilo Alaniz and retired in 2023. He was proud to protect and serve his community and be the advocate for innocent victims. He was our unwavering moral compass with no room for anything but doing the right thing, no matter what. “Cheque” enjoyed listening to R&B oldies, classic Tejano and George Strait music. He especially loved spending time with his immediate and extended family and friends and was the life of the party with his cool dance moves and cheating during game nights. He was a proud grandfather to three beautiful grandchildren and two grand-fur babies that will miss him dearly.

My prayers and condolences go out to the entire Mancha Family. It brought heartbreak and sadness to hear of Mancha's passing. I had the pleasure of training Mancha when he came out to the Police Academy and rode side by side during this training days. It was always a honor to train him as he was an excellent Officer and gentlemen at all times. As time passed, we became friends and shared many wonderful moments as our children grew up and we attended their parties for one another. Mancha was such a dedicated and loving husband and father to his daughters. May he rest in peace and may God bless his family always. Rest in Peace my friend. Retired Investigator Gordon B. Jarrell

My sincere condolences to Mancha's wife and daughters. I had the pleasure of working Mancha a number of years ago when I lived in Laredo. He was gracious enough to invite me and my family to his daughter's quinceanera. I remember how proud he was of his daughters. Mancha was always welcoming, willing to help and look after others. He also had a great sense of humor. I will miss him.

My most sincere and heartfelt condolences go out to the entire Mancha Family. You don't know me but I knew Mancha the well respected and dedicated law enforcement investigator. I was privileged to work as a prosecutor on a number of his federal cases when he was with the FBI Task Force. He personified what it is to serve and protect his community. He was a tireless and dedicated investigator who made significant contributions to the cases he worked and which impacted the community he served. He will always be remembered by those of us who were part of his law enforcement family. His legacy to law enforcement will be one of service, work ethic, commitment and character. A legacy that will live in those of us who worked with him professionally and inspire future generations who will follow in his shoes. God Bless you all.
