Eva Zuniga Gonzalez, 92, was called by the Lord to her resting place in Heaven on Sunday, March 5, 2017.
Eva Zuniga Gonzalez was born in 1925 near Cameron, Texas east of Temple and Waco. She was the oldest among four younger brothers. Her childhood days were surrounded by love from her parents and grandparents; things changed during the great depression in the mid-1930s forcing the extended family to move to different border towns.
In her late teens, she studied a secretarial training course. Working as a secretary, she met her future husband; settling with her husband, Francisco, in Laredo, Texas in 1948. They joined the local Primera Iglesia Bautista in 1949; she served diligently in her local church for over 50 years in different capacities: as Bible teacher, Bible School director, conducting services in her 70s alongside her Christian sisters at the local nursing homes, etc.
During the last 10 years she was confined to a bed and wheel chair from a crippling arthritis disease which was a great challenge for her; however, she persevered in the Lord; strong in her faith in God. Above all, she was a faithful wife; a mother that knew how to love her children.
Mrs. Gonzalez is preceded in death by her husband; Francisco Gonzalez.
Left to cherish her memory are her children; Fernando (Gladys) Gonzalez and Eliza (Joe) Sanchez, grandchildren; Jessica (Carlos Carrizales) Sanchez, Martha (Orlando Esparza) Sanchez, Joey Sanchez, Fernando (Elizabeth) Gonzalez and Erika (Mark) Pierce, 7 great grandchildren and other relatives.
