Obituary

Eric Gabriel Iglesias heard the Lord call and went home to be with Him on April 8, 2021, surrounded by his family, at the age of 47.

Eric became a Warrior as he battled Glioblastoma and did so in the most heroic way. Eric was born on January 13, 1974 in Edinburg, Texas to Nat and Tonette Iglesias and resided in Laredo until he moved to San Antonio, Texas to undergo his aggressive treatments.

He was a 1992 graduate of United High School and then became a part of the U.S. Marine Corps and later a certified massage therapist, which was his passion. Eric enjoyed the great outdoors, camping, hunting, drawing, was an avid reader and immersed himself in learning about all types of animals. His sisters were his pride and his nieces filled him with joy as he witnessed them grow into beautiful young ladies.

Eric was a friend to all, treated everyone with fairness and would help anyone in need. Throughout his life, he held unwavering faith in God, enjoyed the men’s ministries and sermons from Pastor Patrick at Lighthouse Assembly of God.

Eric is preceded in death by his grandparents, Joe G. and Lillie Mae Guerra of McAllen, Texas, Natividad and Guadalupe Iglesias of Mission, Texas and his cousin Joey Guerra.

Left in the caring hands of God are his parents; Nat and Tonette Iglesias, Jr.; sisters; Lillie Christine Rendón, Sarah Elena Butler and Marlene Jeanette Gonzales; brother-in-laws by marriage, but whom he considered brothers, Ricardo “Rick” Rendón, Luis A. Butler and Zach R. Gonzales; his nieces who were his greatest joy; Jasmine Christine Rendón, Faith Victoria Butler, Grace Elena Butler and Hope Alexandra Butler; numerous loving Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, and friends.

Eric’s family would like to thank Dr. Christopher Bogaev, Dr. Lisa Fichtel, Dr. Michael Maloy, the many wonderful nurses, and medical professionals including Kim, Nan, Catherine, his buddy Bobby, Cynthia, Rosie, Rosario, and Vitas Hospice health team, most importantly, Ms. Marilyn, Ms. Marya, Ms, Jane and Chaplin Brad for their unwavering care and love they showed Eric. The Iglesias Family is forever grateful.

A Celebration of Life and visitation will be held Wednesday, April 14, 2021, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm with a Prayer Service beginning at 6:30 pm. Abiding with Eric’s request he will be cremated. The family would like to ask guests to wear shades of blue in honor of Eric’s favorite color.

To all who attended Eric's Celebration of Life service & posted a memory, we want to thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Eric was a blessed son & brother who treated family & friends the way he wanted to be treated himself. He respected his parents, grandparents, uncles & aunts with LOVE. GOD gifted a Masterpiece of a son to his father & I & broke the mold. Eric was 1 of a kind. Eric was a great & loyal friend to all but most of all he was the best loving brother to his sisters...Lillie Christine, Sarah Elena, & Marlene Jeanette & loving uncle to his adorable nieces, Jasmine Christine, Faith Victoria, Grace Elena, & Hope Alexandra. I love & miss you my Sonny Boy! May you rest in Eternal Peace until we meet again. ☝️?????

My deepest condolences to all the Iglesias Family. My heart broke when I learned of his passing but I have many wonderful memories of Eric when I was growing up. He was definitely one of a kind and I was blessed to have known him. I had not seen Eric in a long time but often remembered him when Ace Ventura or The Mask came on. To me Eric will always be that handsome, young guy walking his dog, Rocky. You will be missed Eric. My thoughts and prayers to all the family. Love y'all, Tina (Orphan)

My deepest condolences to the entire family. Although, I only got to care for Mr. Eric for a short time, I immediately felt welcomed by this wonderful family and especially Miss Lillie. He was so loved and adored by his family, and you could immediately feel the beautiful bond that they all held. I pray that Eric is rejoicing in heaven, free of pain, and doing all the wonderful things he enjoyed doing. I only wish I had gotten a chance to get to know him for a little longer, but I am grateful for the time that I did have with him and witnessing his amazing strength and love for life. My thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family. ❤️??

I still can’t believe that He was Sick. I didn’t know. I know we were Friends since Middle School and after High School We Drafted apart. I’m so sorry to have learned of passing without even knowing what He was going through. I know He was always very kind to me, I remember He would Smile ? All the I looked at Him at The School or the Bus. I remembered so many of his conversations as I kept Reminiscing. I don’t know if He ever told any of His sisters when we were Teens, but I found it Cute That he would Blush when talking to Me. I know He was such a wonderful person. I know it because I knew Him. We grew up since Middle School thru Graduation. Then My Mom Bought a House and We left Town North. I don’t know what To say Cause I know that no matter what I try to say is not going to make your pain any better. But I really Pray That God Heals Your Pain. With Time I know, but I will Pray For Him and His Family. Lillie, if you Read This I hope you Remember me. My most Sincere Condolences ?
