Obituary

Our beloved mother, grandmother (lovingly called “gungi” by her grandchildren) and friend to all Elizabeth “Liz” Adams entered into God’s kingdom on Wednesday, January 27th, 2016 and will be deeply missed by her loving family and everyone who had the opportunity of knowing this special soul.  Guided with faith that our Lord and Savior has now taken our dear mother by the hand to rest in eternal peace comforts the family during this difficult time.  Born Elizabeth Leithhead in Duluth, Minnesota, to Leslie Sellwood Leithhead and Virginia Oestreich Leithhead, Elizabeth was a graduate from East High School in Duluth and Duluth Business College.  She resided in Laredo for many years and considered Laredo her second home.  Locally Elizabeth worked in media in the 1980’s and was known throughout the community.  After residing in Minnesota, Los Angeles, California, and Texas, her love of life and different cultures took her through many different paths as a worldwide traveler.  Elizabeth traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Canada, Austria, Slovakia, Spain, Morocco, Jordan, Egypt and Greece.  She loved language and was fluid in Spanish and also spoke Greek, Russian and some Arabic and Slovakian.  When she retired, she moved back home to Duluth and resided in her beloved home on Lake Superior where she welcomed all with open arms.  She held Greek school at her home and will be deeply missed by her Greek family there.  Along with her passion for travel was her love of art and Elizabeth was an accomplished artist and sold many of her beautiful paintings throughout her life.  She preferred to work with oils and watercolors and was a member of different Art guilds around the country and at one time a member of the Laredo Art League as well.  Elizabeth was a very compassionate person and was involved in children’s causes and animal shelters from around the States.  Blessed with two loving daughters, grandchildren, numerous Greek family members and loving friends, she will be deeply missed.

We would like to acknowledge all our family members here in Laredo who have helped us through this difficult time including the Stanley and Laurel family and the Rodriguez family.

Survived by Elizabeth are, (daughters) Deborah Jo Adams-Rodriguez and Annamaria (Kenji) Adams-Ogura, of Duluth, MN., three grandchildren, Robert Tatsu Ogura, Jacqueline Nichole Rodriguez, and Melody Kalida Rodriguez.

Her Greek family Urania Zorbas, Gina Zorbas, John Fotios Zorbas (+), Father Timothy Sas, George Farmakes (Carol) and George Gerogeorge, numerous cousins and relatives in Minnesota.  Elizabeth had many beautiful beloved animals in her life but her beloved dog Elvis (+) was her best companion in her later years.

The family would like to express their utmost gratitude to Guerra Communications and the Guerra family.

The family will receive guests Thursday, February 4, 2015 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held Friday, February 5, 2016, at the funeral home chapel.  Chapel service will officiate at 10:00 am by Deacon Gerardo Morales. I am so sad to hear about Liz passing. Liz was one of the first people I met when I moved to Laredo to work as the KVTV anchor. Liz was so welcoming, and I loved talking to her, especially about Minnesota, where my father's family also came from. It has been years since I last saw Liz, but I will always remember her beautiful smile, her laugh, her positive attitude, her kindness, and her love for animals. My deepest condolences to her family. Liz was truly a beautiful person inside and out.

Liz, thank you for the wonderful memories from my years at KVTV CBS in Laredo where we worked together for so many years. I will always remember your gentle nature, your wit and your smile that you shared with the world. I will miss you.
