Obituary

Barbara (Herrera)Arredondo, devoted spouse, mother, sibling, and a patient friend to all, joined our Lord in His heavenly kingdom on Friday, January 12, 2024 at the age of 61. Even though her passing was expected she will be missed by many.

Barbara was the fourth of seven children born to Ramon and Bertha Herrera in Laredo, Texas.  As a child she attended C.L. Milton elementary school. M.B. Lamar middle school, and went on to attend J.W. Nixon high school as did the rest of her siblings and graduated class of 1981. Barbara attended Texas A&M International University and majored in special education and has been part of the United South Middle school Leopard family the last 13 years.

Barbara was a devote catholic and an active member of the San Martin family. Her devotion to the church shined most in her work and family. She was a devoted mother and wife and helped care for her mother until her death in November of 2021. Barbara taught special education and was always tirelessly working on the needs of her students. She was at the school when the doors opened and was always asked to leave so that they could close up. If there was any one word that could best describe Barbara it would be patient. She was patient with everyone and everything she was truly the kindest soul this world had to offer. Her devotion and patience to her school/ students, family and church will be missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her parent Ramon F. Herrera Sr. And Bertha Herrera, along with sister Anna Laura(Herrera) Garza, and brother Ramon(Raymond) Herrera.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband Pedro David Arredondo, her beloved children; Ana Gabriela Arredondo and Pedro David Arredondo Jr; siblings Arturo (Janine) Herrera, Iris (Willie) Lopez, Maria Ingrid Herrera, Robert Gerardo (Elizabeth) Herrera, she is further survived by her nieces and nephews and many devoted friends.

The Arredondo family will be receiving condolences on Friday, January 26, 2024 in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  A rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from the funeral home to San Martin de Porres Church. Our deepest sympathies to the Arredondo and Herrera families. I have known Barbara a lifetime and she was a very kind gracious soul. This reflected so much in her dedication to her career/students and the dedication to her family and friends. God has gained another angel. May Barbara Rest In Peace.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Mrs. Arredondo left too soon. She was a great mentor, best co-worker, and friend I've ever known. I was blessed to have worked side by side with her. She would tell me stories about her family that she loved so much. May she R.I.P while reuniting with her loved ones that passed before her. I will miss her so as she was part of my life and cherish the memories we had together, my dear friend, Barbara Arredondo.
