Obituary

Alfredo De Los Santos, 93, peacefully passed away on January 2, 2024. He was born on July 22, 1930 and was the son of Carlos and Sara Martinez De Los Santos. Alfredo was a devoted husband, father, brother, uncle, and grandfather. At an early age, he was drafted into the U.S. Army, where he served as military police. Following his honorable discharge, he made his way to Chicago, Illinois to work on painting homes. He then returned to Laredo and began working and helping his brother Frank at Borden’s Milk. Afterwards, he worked in sales for Mrs. Jacobs’ at Laredo Welder’s Equipment on Marcella Street. He often helped his father after getting off work at C. De Los Santos Hardware Store that was located on 701 E. Saunders. Mr. Pat Alexander Sr. later acquired Laredo Welders Equipment and Alfredo continued to work for him until the company was sold to Airgas. He faithfully dedicated 42 years of his life to his job and retired at the age of 72. Alfredo was a loyal, honest, and committed employee. His work ethic was unmatched. After retirement, Alfredo always remained active by helping his wife, Irma, with her tamale business. He was a creature of habit and loved eating delicious home cooked meals that his wife would make. Additionally, he enjoyed outings at his favorite restaurants, watching his favorite shows, going for a cruise, and spending time with family. Alfredo loved his children and grandchildren very much and was present and intentional in their lives. He will be deeply missed.

Grandpa, You are in the house of the Lord now. I know you’re beaming with joy and free of pain. Thank you for all the amazing memories. You were an amazing grandfather and made us feel so loved in your own special way. You were hilarious, comforting, sweet, and adorable. I’m sad you’ve left us, but I know you are in your eternal home with grandma. You missed your honey. My heart will be incomplete until we reunite again. Give grandma a big hug and kiss for me. Enjoy your 62nd wedding anniversary tomorrow (01/07). We’ll see each other soon. I love you, grandpa ❤️
