Abelardo C. Talamantes, 91, entered into eternal rest, Thursday, November 16, 2023. Mr. Talamantes lived in Colorado from 1963 to 1990 where he farmed and raised his children. In 1972, he worked for Kodak Colorado Division, until he retired in 1990 and then returned to Laredo. On December 2, 1985, he married the love of his life, Nora Oliva. Mr. Talamantes enjoyed fishing, camping, hunting, music and dancing. He enjoyed watching western movies and especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Talamantes and Blasa C. Talamantes; sons, Abelardo Talamantes, Jr., David Talamantes and Thomas Talamantes; step son, Jorge Ramirez; grandson, Eric Ponce; 4 brothers and a son in law.
He is survived by his wife of 38 years of marriage, Nora Talamantes; children, Yolanda Ponce, Sylvia (Bruno) Felix, Steven (Jannelle) Talamantes and Michael Talamantes; daughters in law, Maria Dolores Talamantes and Juana Talamantes; sister, Obdulia “Julie” Cavazos; as well as numerous loving grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews who will greatly miss him.
The Talamantes family will be receiving condolences on Tuesday, November 21, 2023, in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. A holy rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Cremation will be held at a later date.

Tío I will always remember you I remember we went to see you the first time in Colorado dad , mom , Lety , Ronny and mark . You took care of the farm where you lived the house had a basement and trees around the house. I will never forget the good things and laughs we had making dad mad and fun of dad , chaparro I called you all the time , may you rest in peace and never be forgotten love you many hugs and kisses ??? .
A great, humble and generous man has gained his wings in Heaven. I am happy to have had the pleasure of meeting him as the husband and companion of my friend Nora. My prayers and condolences go out to his family.

I remember waking up after staying the night to him making us blueberry pancakes and over medium eggs. He showed me to eat them both together for a different taste of sweet and salty. My favorite breakfast to this day. I’ll never forget his smile of love and sincerity. ? Love you Grandpa RIP ???✝️
