Jose David Ortega, 61, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family at his home in Shreveport, Louisiana, on Tuesday, November 26, 2019.
Mr. Ortega was born in San Antonio, Texas to David Leocadio Ortega and Omelia Lorenzi. Mr. Ortega was a jeweler by trade for many years and owned David’s Jewelry & Watch Repair in Laredo, Texas. At the time of his death Mr. Ortega was working in the Gas & Oil industry for PLC Construction in West Texas. Mr. Ortega’s passion was riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle. He enjoyed many years of riding trips with his close friends and his wife before being placed on Hospice.
David fought a valiant battle against lung cancer. From the beginning, he knew that cancer was only a chapter in his life and not the whole story. He never lost hope and he did not allow cancer to cripple his love for his Lord, his life and his family. He continued to live life to his fullest, travel, build memories and to love without limit. His journey was an incredible testimony of faith, love, courage, strength and admiration for all who knew him.
David did not allow cancer to suppress his memories, corrode his faith, destroy his peace, invade his soul, conquer his spirit, or steal his eternal life. He was able to do all this through the grace and love from his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Mr. Ortega was preceded in death by his parents, David Leocadio Ortega and Omelia Lorenzi Ortega and brother Luis Ortega.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife Norma Araceli Ortega, his daughters, Brianna M. Wright (Thomas), Bianca M. Murphy (Ryan), grandchildren, Lola Jaylene King, Lily Jade Wright, Lyla July Wright, Paxton Rush Murphy and Kieran Jude Murphy, Siblings, Sylvia (Joe) Garza, Norma L. Ortega, Martha (Armando) Perez, Angelica Ortega Rodriguez, Gerardo Ortega Rodriguez, Alvaro (Isabel) Ortega Rodriguez, Claudia Ortega Rodriguez and Emmanuel Ortega Rodriguez. Special thanks to the West Texas Anadarko Midstream Construction Family, PLC Family and “His Boss” that he loved and respected, Noe Aguirre. Thank you for all the visits, encouragement and support throughout these years. We will forever be grateful.
The family would also like to give special thanks to Home Hospice of Andrews, Texas, their nurses, Kyle, Lisa and Mallory and Amedisys Hospice of Shreveport, Louisiana, their nurses Sandy, Donna and Brother Jim for all their compassion and special care for David.
