Erasmo Lino Elizondo, a U.S. Army Veteran of Laredo, TX was called to be with our Lord on May 21, 2018 surrounded by his loved ones at the age of 82.
Erasmo was native to Laredo, but resided in San Antonio, TX for most of his life after a long career in the Armed Forces. He served in the Korean War and Vietnam War, earning him the Vietnam Service medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal; Good Conduct Medal, Meritorious Unit Commendation; Army Commendation Medal w/1 Oak Leaf Cluster. He retired after more than 20 years in service as a Staff Sergeant in the Army.
Erasmo and his wife Josie Elizondo both had a passion for helping others in times of need often opening their hearts and home to foster children.
Mr. Elizondo is preceded in death by his parents, Luz and Simona Elizondo, wife, Josie Elizondo, siblings, Elia Lozano, Gilbert Elizondo, and Juanita Lerma, and grandchild Lorenzo Elizondo.
He is survived by his children, Erasmo Elizondo Jr., Ramiro Elizondo (Idalia), and Rosa Rodriguez (Ignacio). Mr. Elizondo leaves behind 15 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Family will receive guests on Wednesday, May 23, 2018 from 5 PM- 9 PM with a prayer service at 7:00 PM at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services. Interment will be Wednesday May 30, 2018 at 10:00am in Fort Sam Houston, San Antonio, Texas.
