Obituary

Teresita Farias Ramirez passed away peacefully on February 14th in Edinburg, TX alongside her loving family.  She was 86 years old and simply known to most people as “Tere.”

She was preceded in death by her Parents Juan and Isabel Farias, husband, Antonio Ramirez Sr., son Antonio Ramirez Jr., Sisters Irma De Los Santos, Yolanda Pelaez,  brother Johnny Farias, sister in law Mandy Farias, and Brother in law Valente Pelaez

Teresita was an angel walking on earth.  She never met a stranger.  As a woman of strong Catholic faith, she always found the time to help others.  People often reached out to her in their time of need with prayer requests.  She also helped raise many children during her time and became an unofficial “Tia Tere” or “Grandma Tere” to many.  Known for her incredible cooking skills, people often reached out to her during the holidays requesting recipes.

Left to cherish her memory are her children, Nayda (Oscar) Ortiz, Gerardo (Erika) Ramirez, Grandchildren: Anissa (Jonathan Navarro) Ortiz, Isabella Ortiz, Gerardo Isaac Ramirez, and Joseph Jerrick Ramirez, Siblings: Rosario (+Manuel) Arzamendi, Cleotilde (Reynaldo) Palos, and Roberto (Mari) Farias, Brother in law: Alfredo De Los Santos, as well as numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and close friends.

The family would like to thank Allstate Hospice of Edinburg nurses and staff who became part of our family. Special thanks to Sonia Lopez Sosa who always went above and beyond her duty of care.

Pallbearers: Nayda Ortiz, Oscar Ortiz, Gerardo Isaac Ramirez, Joseph Jerrick Ramirez, Eduardo Lozano Jr., John Eugene Amaya, Jerry Arzamendi, and Fernando Ortega.

Honorary Pallbearers: Manuel Arzamendi Jr., Javier Arzamendi, Ricardo Arzamendi, Reynaldo Palos Jr., Cesar De Los Santos, and Hector Palos.

The Ramirez family will be receiving guests on Friday, February 17, 2023, in the Angelus Chapel at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm.  A Rosary will begin at 7:00 pm. We want to express our condolences on the passing of your mom! She was a wonderful and strong woman. She was a fantastic host when your dad held the get-togethers at your parents home for the people from Christen. We always enjoyed those times. She will be missed, not only by her family, but also her friends. May our Lord give you strength and give you peace at this time and always.

My deepest condolences to the Ramirez family on such a significant loss. My Tia Tere was full of life, loving, welcoming, gracious, and funny. This family has been a big part of my childhood and overall life. Their house was a place I looked forward to visiting. Our family vacations to Port Arkansas are memories that are forever in my heart. Can't forget the peanut butter candy! I am so grateful to God for blessing me with the opportunity of knowing, loving, and being loved by my Tia Tere. While the world lost an incredible human, heaven is rejoicing and she is reunited with her husband, son, brother, and sisters. I have faith that we will all be together again one day. Until then, may your angel wings watch over all of us here on earth. You are now in your eternal home. I love you, Tia and I will miss your presence. Love, Adriana (Cuata & la girl).

Mi Tio Juan and Tia Chavela were such wonderful people. I know you and your other sisters made my sisters Mary Lou Juarez and Norma Brady laugh so much when you’ll visited due to your funny sense of humor and brought great joy due to love for each other. Enjoy heaven and give your mom and dad a big hug from me. They were so kind and loving to us when daddy aka Gilberto FARIAS Martinez died. Condolences to your kids aka our cousins. I feel beyond blessed to have experienced countless memories with my grandma. I have hundreds of pictures that I will cherish forever. One of my favorite things to do for my grandma (with the help of Bella, my mom, and my dad) was decorate the house/ her room to welcome her back from her hospital stays (many hospital stays). Welcome home signs, balloons thrown everywhere, blasting music as she walked in, and celebrating with an Oreo cake was the way we’d do it. Those were the times my family felt complete. Grandma, I expect a big welcome home party when my times comes and I get to see you again. I love you forever my beautiful angel

I have so many great memories of Tere growing up. My fondest memory of her was always seeing her and Tony at the bowling alley during Thursday bowling nights for the teachers. She was always so welcoming when I would go to her home especially to go pick up them honest with my mom. My mom and her husband used to team teach at Kristen Middle School. Such a beautiful couple and now she is with her forever Valentine.

Where to begin...Met Tere many years ago. She was a beautiful woman with such a beautiful soul and great sense of humor. She is now face to face with our Lord and her two loves. May her two kids feel God's love and serenity. May Tere rest in peace!???

I have so many great memories with my tia Tere. I loved spending the night and crushing cans with tio Toño, while you always made sure there were cuerñitos in the kitchen. I remember being with Nana and waking you up saying we wanted cereal when we were smaller. Your house was always a fun zone for me. I enjoyed going to the valley to visit you each time I had a work trip. Although you are no longer here, I know you’re with tio Toño, tio tony, tio Johnny, tia Yolanda, my grandma Irma and other loved ones. I will miss you so much. I love you with all my heart. Love the cuata, Sel.
