With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sabino Rivera, age 80, of Laredo, Texas. A man whose strength, laughter, and love filled every corner of his family’s life, Sabino was the kind of person who made everyone feel cared for.

He was a hardworking provider, devoted husband, and loving father who believed in doing what was right and always putting family first. For 61 wonderful years, he shared his life with his beloved wife, Bertha Idalia Villarreal Rivera, creating a home full of joy, warmth, and unforgettable memories. His love for his daughters was endless and he will be deeply missed by his daughters Sandra (George) Barrera, Adriana Rivera, Griselda (Octaviano + )Rodriguez, and Araceli (Jorge) Valdez. He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Elizabeth “Lizzy” Rivera, whose memory he carried in his heart every day.

He was a loving and a proud grandfather to Daniel G. Valdez, Bertha A. Valdez, Kassandra G. Valdez, Shelby D. Barrera, Elizabeth R. Barrera, Melissa A. Rodriguez and Christina N. Barrera. Sabino also delighted in the laughter and energy of his great-grandchildren: Daniel Jr.,  Skyler,  Khloey, Kingston, Joe Jr., Alan and Valentina. Additionally, he deeply valued his friendship with Joe Rodriguez.

Serving as pallbearers are George T. Barrera, Jr., Jorge Valdez, Daniel G. Valdez, Joe Rodriguez, Justin Hernandez and Jason R. Myers.

Though he is no longer with us, his spirit will forever remain in our hearts.

The Rivera family will be receiving guests on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services from 9:00 am to 11:00 am. A chapel service will begin at 11:00 am. Interment will follow to the Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
