It is with deep sorrow and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, Rosalinda Duran Garza, who entered eternal rest on Thursday, March 13, 2025, at the age of 78.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ramiro Quintero Garza; parents Roberto Duran and Carmen Duran; her brothers, Roberto Duran Jr., and Ricardo Duran.
Rosalinda is survived by her daughter, Roxana Rubi Garza; grandchildren, Shelby L. Varela, Jr. and Zasha Rubi Varela; great-grandson, Giovanni Varela; siblings, Raul Rene (Criselda Garcia) Duran, Rosario (Jose Gerardo) Duran Lopez, and Rosaura (Gilberto) Duran Muñoz; as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends, all of whom will greatly miss her.
Rosalinda was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, Godmother, and a dear friend. She was the heart of our family, a pillar of unconditional love and strength whose kindness and warmth touched everyone she met. She brought joy to all those around her, leaving a lasting impact on the lives of her family, friends, and community.
Rosalinda embraced life with an open heart and an infectious spirit. She was always surrounded by her loved ones, whether through her retirement group, prayer circles, St. Augustine’s Class of ’65, cherished tea parties, or as an active member of the Catholic Daughters. Her days were filled with fellowship, laughter, and meaningful conversations. She loved to dance, always sporting a radiant smile, and delighted in sharing her treasured recipes, turning meals into lasting memories for those fortunate enough to enjoy them together.
As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Rosalinda guided and nurtured her family with unwavering love, wisdom, and faith. She was a constant source of support, always ready to help anyone in need. Her generosity, grace, and devotion made her the foundation of our family, and she will forever be remembered as our matriarch.
We want to express our heartfelt gratitude to all who have offered their love, support, and prayers during this difficult time. Your kindness and prayers have brought us comfort and strength, and we are forever grateful for your support.
A service to honor and celebrate Rosalinda’s beautiful life will be held on Thursday, March 20, 2025. The family will receive guests from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Fred Dickey Funeral & Cremation Services, where a rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, March 21, 2025, with a procession from the funeral home to San Agustin Cathedral. The time of the Funeral Mass will be at 9 a.m. Interment will follow at the Laredo City Cemetery.
